Dear ABCD community,
By now, we have all been able to take in the results of the 2024 elections and can all agree that this was an unprecedented campaign and it is an historic moment. It shines a stark light on our country’s divisions—but it also reveals many strengths. We revere the promise of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, and we must move forward with resilience and renewed hope.
ABCD is a Community Action Agency, one of a thousand such organizations created out of the turmoil of the 1960s and the War on Poverty to empower communities to address economic inequality and develop local solutions to the seemingly insurmountable challenges of poverty. Today our mission remains unchanged and undeterred: ABCD builds pathways out of poverty in partnership with families and communities so that everyone can thrive. Everyone.
I am inspired by 900 of my colleagues here at ABCD, who tirelessly support our neighbors who face the most challenging economic circumstances and systemic barriers. We are here to provide access to resources that level the playing field. We are here to champion equity so that wealth gaps can be closed, health inequities can be bridged, and racial disparities can be overcome.
We uplift. We empower. And we will continue to collaborate with all of you to build a future that values every individual and enables every community to prosper.
