Life Science Cares, a Cambridge-based nonprofit that provides human and financial resources to eliminate the impact of poverty in Greater Boston, this week announced it raised $605,000 to support end-of-year grant making to nonprofits providing basic human services, education, and economic sustainability programs.
Addressing the organization’s annual Impact Breakfast, former Massachusetts governor Deval Patrick said, “The line between business and government or business and civil society is a lot brighter in this country than it is elsewhere. Collaborating to solve problems across those lines leads to creative solutions in other places and we could stand to do more of that here.”
Sarah MacDonald, executive director of Life Science Cares (LSC), reported that since March, 600 Massachusetts biopharma executives and employees raised $1.8 million granted weekly to organizations providing shelter, medical care and food during the coronavirus pandemic.
