BOSTON, MA — Corporate and sponsored community teams will step up to the plate for ABCD Field of Dreams, a one-of-a-kind sports benefit to support youth programs including, SummerWorks, ABCD’s summer youth employment program, in partnership with the Boston Red Sox on Friday, May 29, 2026 at Fenway Park. Opening remarks are at 3:15 p.m. and the first game begins at 3:45 p.m. Participants will enter and exit at Gate E on Lansdowne Street.
Former Red Sox players Keith Foulke and Derek Lowe, who pitched for the team during the 2004 World Series, will engage with corporate and sponsored community teams, youth and families during Field of Dreams. Their efforts helped the Red Sox sweep the St. Louis Cardinals in four games, earn their first title in 86 years, and end the Curse of the Bambino. Red Sox Hall of Famer Derek Lowe will throw the first pitch for Game One. Keith Foulke, who recorded the final out of the 2004 World Series, will throw out the first pitch for Game Two.
ABCD SummerWorks takes place from July 6th – August 28th, placing youth in nonprofit and mission-driven organizations, allowing them to work and serve in the communities in which they live, while earning a paycheck. Youth participants also engage in career development, job readiness workshops and mentoring opportunities.
“Field of Dreams allows everyday people rare access to Fenway Park, and an unforgettable opportunity to come together for a powerful purpose,” said Sharon Scott-Chandler, ABCD President and CEO. “Every team that takes the field helps ABCD open doors for young people across Greater Boston.”
Teams will suit up to play softball on the Kentucky Bluegrass where the Red Sox made history, while bringing colleagues, clients, family and friends to cheer them on. Off-field festivities include refreshments, a photo booth, face painting and Fenway Park tours. ABCD youth and Field of Dreams players will enjoy a private meet and greet with Foulke and Lowe.
Field of Dreams teams include Cramer, TJX, Ropes & Gray, Boston MVPs, ABCD Youth and Beantown Softball.
“ABCD SummerWorks gave me my first job at the Massachusetts Health Association when I was 14 years old,” said James Hills, community leader and host of the podcast Java with Jimmy. “To be in partnership with ABCD 40 years later around their reproductive health initiatives, and to see the impact of what they are doing for Boston youth with the Red Sox is a full circle moment.”
“Field of Dreams brings together two things that matter deeply to the Red Sox: the joy of baseball and the power of community,” said Bekah Salwasser, Executive Vice President of Social Impact for the Boston Red Sox and Executive Director of the Red Sox Foundation. “We are proud to partner with ABCD on an event that gives our community partners an unforgettable Fenway experience while supporting opportunities for young people across Greater Boston.”
Keith Foulke, a native of Huffman, Texas was drafted in 1994 by the San Francisco Giants. His Major League Baseball (MLB) career spanned 11 seasons including stints with the Giants, White Sox, Athletics and Red Sox. A 2003 All-Star and Rolaids Relief Man of the Year, Foulke was among the game’s top closers. Since retiring, he has remained active within the Red Sox organization and in youth baseball, supporting programs in his hometown and mentoring aspiring pitchers.
Derek Lowe, a native of Dearborn Michigan, made his MLB debut in 1997 with the Seattle Mariners and built his career on grit, reinvention, and one of the hottest sinkers in baseball. His place in Boston sports history was sealed in October 2004 winning the clinching game in the American League Division Series and American League Championship Series. Then, in the final game against the St. Louis Cardinals, Lowe threw seven shutout innings, helping the Red Sox capture their first World Series in 86 years. He became the first MLB pitcher to start and win three series-clinching games in a single postseason. He was inducted into the Red Sox Hall of Fame in 2018.
Boston Globe sportswriter, author, Field of Dreams co-founder, and event co-host Bob Ryan returns to help celebrate one of Boston’s most memorable charitable sports traditions. “This event has always been about the magic of Fenway, and the generosity of people who care about young people in this city,” he said. “It is a rare thing to play ball at Fenway Park — and an even better thing to do it for a cause that opens doors for Boston youth.”
