Boston Nonprofit Toy Drive in Dire Need of Donations

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Nonprofit organization Action for Boston Community Development is holding its annual toy drive, and they are in need of toys now more than ever.

The organization has held this drive for over 50 years and they have provided toys for hundreds of families that cannot afford them.

Bianny Suncar is running the drive this year, and she pleaded with people to donate, as the inventory is very low.

“We are working right now with a small inventory from last year, we haven’t received any new donations this year,” said Bianny.

ABCD has received toy requests from around 800 families so far this year, but Bianny is afraid that they will have to stop taking these requests.

“Every day we have more and more requests,” said Suncar. “Unfortunately, without knowing how much donations we have in, we might have to stop the list until we know what we’re working with. We are really in need.”

She also discussed how for the families in need, toys are the last thing on many parents’ lists, as bills tend to come first. Without this drive, many children will not receive gifts this year.

“We just need people in the door and I think that with getting the word out we can we can meet that.”

You can help by dropping toys off at ABCD Dorchester location at 110 Claybourne Street or by donating monetarily to the nonprofit’s website.

The toy drive deadline is Friday, December 13th.
