ABCD Toy Drive FALLING SHORT – SEEKS DONATIONS ASAP FOR GREATER BOSTON CHILDREN

Parents’ requests far outpacing donations

Winter Fund also provides children and families with warm clothing,
food, heating assistance

(BOSTON, MA) – Parents struggling to cover monthly expenses are at a loss when it comes to  purchasing toys for their children this holiday season. As a result, requests are pouring in to the ABCD Toy Drive. This year – as the height of the season approaches – Action for Boston Community Development (ABCD) has received more than 6,500 requests for toys – and we’re  falling short of making the holidays brighter for families. To meet this year’s demand, individual, corporate, and in-kind donations are desperately needed. ABCD calls on friends and supporters to give a gift including cash and toys, by December 13th!

“This year people need help more than ever,” ABCD President and CEO Sharon Scott-Chandler said. “Stagnant wages and soaring costs for food, rent, heat and other necessities have created severe hardship for many families. Holiday presents are often beyond their reach. Please help out during this season of giving.”

The ABCD Toy Drive makes the holidays joyful for children from underserved homes throughout Boston and the Mystic Valley. There’s a considerable need for toys for children ages 10 to 12. Toy donations can be initiated at bostonabcd.org/toydriveform. Cash donations can be made online at bostonabcd.org/donateABCD Winter Fund supports essential needs
With temperatures dropping and the cost of living rising, this is a particularly hard time for families struggling to pay the rent, heat their homes, and put food on the table – and to get ahead. ABCD helps people to avert crises and access resources to build a better future.
