Do You Remember How Much Your First Summer Job Meant to You?
Share that feeling of accomplishment by making a donation to SummerWorks!
Since its founding over 47 years ago, SummerWorks has enabled over 150,000 Boston youths ages 14-21 to receive a part-time ABCD-funded summer job. SummerWorks is the only summer jobs program in Boston that allows low-income 14-year-olds to obtain a summer job to help their family's finances.
ABCD SummerWorks is more than a summer job. Youth who participate in Summer Works receive other services and trainings, including:
- A positive first exposure to the world of work
- Extra help with math, science, and reading
- Discussion about workplace safety and healthy life choices, including information about nutrition and exercise
- And, life skills training to learn about resume writing, financial education, conflict resolution and workplace etiquette.
SummerWorks runs from July to August.
Why Your Support Matters
Each year, more than 6,600 low-income youth apply for the 1,200 jobs that can be funded on the current annual budget of $1.8 million. Approximately 82% of the youth who are willing and able to work will be unable to get a summer job.
More donations from generous donors like you mean more youth can be employed.
To give more young people that special memory of a first summer job you can donate to SummerWorks in the following ways
