Housing & Homelessness Prevention

Lack of affordable housing, a difficult economy and the high cost of living in Boston have left many people without a roof over their heads. Many of Boston's homeless work full-time yet cannot afford housing.

The Department of Housing & Homelessness Prevention works with low and moderate income Boston families experiencing the hardships of maintaining their households.

To address the needs of the community, we offer the following programs:

  • Helping At-Risk Tenants (HEART)
  • Landlord Outreach Program
  • Housing Court Advocacy (HCA)
  • Dudley Diversion
  • Scattered Site Shelter
  • Stabilization

The Housing Department also offers housing search workshops, counseling, and referral services.
