The ABCD/Boston Family Planning Professional Training Program provides family planning, reproductive health, and sexuality education for ABCD health center staff and other health professionals and community health workers in the Boston area.
Each year, ABCD/Boston Family Planning offers a comprehensive calendar of professional training opportunities. The following core programs are usually offered three times a year:
- Basic Family Planning - a six-day certification course
- Family Planning for Advanced Practice - a two-day course with 14.2 CEUs for nurses, advanced practice nurses, physician assistants and physicians
- Introduction to Family Planning - a two-day course for community agency staff
In addition, trainings on current reproductive health topics are held several times a year. The last offerings have included: developing competency in providing clinical and counseling services for male and GLBTQ clients; assessment for intimate partner violence in family planning settings; HIV updates; new and emerging contraceptive methods; working with interpreters in the family planning setting and standards for interpreting services in family planning settings;
Specialized trainings on family planning and reproductive health topics are available for community and health care agencies by special arrangement with ABCD staff.
