Kenny Grubbs - Elm Hill FSC

Officer Kenny Grubbs does not like excuses.  For encouraging and supporting youth to lead healthier, more productive lives for the benefit of themselves and the larger community, the Elm Hill FSC salutes him.

For over 20 years, Officer Grubbs has been a member of the Boston Police Department in Roxbury and Dorchester, most recently serving as a Community Service Officer for the past 10 years.  He is a seemingly ubiquitous force in the neighborhood, a frequent presence in the schools, on the streets, and at community gatherings.  He is a DARE instructor at local elementary and middle schools, educating students on the dangers of drugs and addiction, empowering them to stand up to their more wayward peers.

He is the host of “In the Loop,” a local news show that addresses youth and community violence that has aired for more than 10 years and is an active participant with the Officer Friendly Program, working to break down the barriers between police and youth.  Officer Grubbs is a familiar face at his precinct’s community outreach events, serving in a variety of roles from DJ to Santa Claus.  And for the past 10 years he has coached boys and girls basketball teams, believing that the presence of a positive male role model in the lives of youth is a benefit to the social and emotional development of both sexes.

“Don’t go looking for Kenny behind a desk somewhere, ” says Lemuel Mills Director of Elm Hill FSC.  “He lives out his commitment to the youth in our community every day on the streets of our neighborhood, determined to come up with meaningful programs to engage them in a positive way.  His efforts have produced a ripple effect of hope and constructive change among the young people of our city.”
