ABCD Services

Community Health Education for All

The ABCD Family Planning Program has experienced health educators who provide reproductive health and sexuality education to community members at various locations, including schools, religious programs, community agencies, alternative education and GED programs, and detox and substance abuse programs across Boston.

Our goal is to increase access to family planning and other related prevention health care services to prevent unintended pregnancy and foster responsible decision making by individuals and families.

Educational programs and workshops suitable for male and female participants, including teens, pre-teens, adults and parents. Single and multi-session workshops and presentations can be tailored to meet you specific needs.

Examples of health education topics include:

  • Sexuality
  • Puberty
  • Teen pregnancy
  • Healthy relationships
  • HIV/ STD 101

Our educators can also provide information on:

  • Family planning services provided by ABCD FP
  • Parent-child communication and parental involvement
  • Adolescent health and development

Community outreach strategies are provided throughout Greater Boston and include scheduled health tables at community events and presentations to inform various community organizations or community members of the family planning services available at ABCD FP delivery sites including client eligibility. A referral manual is provided to agencies containing the respective information and is updated as appropriate.

ABCD Family Planning works collaboratively with other community agencies that are likely to serve individuals in need of family planning services. This includes the training of agency staff, outreach workers and other community-based health educators to provide basic education and referrals for family planning services.

Workshops and community outreach can also be tailored to meet specific needs related to sexual and reproductive health. Linkages and referrals to service delivery sites can be facilitated by the staff to meet identified individual or community needs.
