Who We Are

ABCD strives to be the voice and catalyst of empowerment and opportunity, providing hands-on assistance to those in need and responding promptly to emerging issues. Its capacity to bring about positive change impacts more than 100,000 low-income Boston-area families every year. ABCD seeks to be constantly innovate and entrepreneurial, developing new programs to meet changing needs.

Programs for the People, by the People
With 15 unique neighborhood centers and hundreds of programs throughout the city, ABCD has the capability to serve diverse populations at every stage of their lives. To accomplish this goal, ABCD has developed a broad spectrum of programs to reach out to people in need and equip them with the skills and self-confidence they need to move forward in their lives.

ABCD also empowers this often invisible and ignored underclass of poor Americans by giving them a voice in the local, state and national landscape, a voice that helps shape public policy around the issues that have the greatest impact on their lives. This is the most direct way to translate human need into programs that provide opportunities for low-income Americans. It not only improves their quality of life, it improves the communities in which they live.
