When he paid homage to those who marched on Washington 50 years ago, saying they made America “more free and more fair,” a few clasped their hands together, as if a victory had been won.

Before they entered the Boston Police Department’s Youth Police Academy summer program, the teens had certain wary perceptions about the officers that patrolled their streets. And the officers had ideas about the youth, as well.

In tech program, teens find their inner Geek
